How do I book a tattoo?
-
The first thing you need to decide when getting a tattoo is what to get and in what style.
The artists working at Barbarian Collective are just that, a collective. We all work in different styles and some of us even specialise in subjects. There are many styles of tattoo these days and with so many artists specialising there is more choice than ever. So how do you narrow it down to the right artist for you? We’re trying to make it easier for customers to work this out.
Below is a list of the styles that Barbarian can accomodate for you. Once you have decided on the style you like you can then match that to your preferred artist. Click on the relevant ‘contact artist’ button and fill out the enquiry form with as much detail as possible by filling in the required fields. The form will get you to provide as much information as possible to avoid too many back and forward conversations and allow us all to be on the same page as quickly as possible. Once filled out, the form will be sent directly to the artist. We do ask that clients be patient at this stage as each artist is self employed and deals with all their own correspondance. At times there can be a lot to get through but we can assure you that everyone always endeavours to get back to every enquiry as quickly as possible.
If you still have a general enquiry you are more than welcome to contact us but we recommend that you check out the FAQ section first as this may answer your query faster.
Please note that none of the artists here will ever copy the work of another tattoo artist so please don’t be offended if you are turned down for a request to copy an idea. You are more than welcome to send reference images for illustration purposes however.
We also all prefer to work within our specialist styles and subject matter. Sometimes a request just won’t suit the artist you would like to carry out the work. In these instances we all try to direct clients to other artists you would be better suited to. We all believe that this is the best way for clients to get the tattoo that they deserve.
We look forward to seeing what ideas you have!
Styles
Colour Realism
Colour realism is where the skin is fully saturated with colour ink to create a full colour photo realistic image. This is one of the most time consuming styles and clients should expect their completed tattoos to take longer than a black and grey equivalent. This is Heidi’s department
Opaque Black and Grey
This is where colour and black and grey meet. Opaque black and grey employs a colour realism process to achieve a fully saturated black and grey tattoo. Like with colour tattoos if you enjoy the sun you should probably think about whether fully saturated colour tattoos are for you as any white based inks are prone to sun damage and can result in yellowing of the pigment. It’s sunblock or factor 50 all the way! Heidi and Duncan are both proficient in this style.
Fine Line Black and Grey
Using the same ink sets as black and grey realism, fine line black and grey is a very delicate style of tattooing. It’s also time consuming and even a small tattoo can take a long time. Cally has been working in this style for a long time and she by far the best suited to this.
Other Styles
We have regular Guest artists visiting the studio. Guesting is great opportunity for artists to network and get their name in front of new clients outside of their normal jurisdiction. It also allows us to offer styles to clients that they may not be able to get from the resident artists.
Guest artist announcements are usually made through the Barbarian Instagram Page. Guest artists also take their own bookings through their own IG pages and email.
